Home eye tests in Harrow

At Doorstep Vision Ltd, we believe in the importance of accessible and quality eye care, which is why we offer home eye tests and personalised care by our experienced opticians. Trust us to keep your vision clear and healthy.

What happens in a home eye test?

A qualified and experienced optometrist from Doorstep Vision Ltd will visit your home at a pre-scheduled time to conduct a comprehensive eye examination. The optometrist will bring all the necessary equipment, including a portable digital eye examination kit, to assess your vision and eye health in the comfort of your own home. The eye test will include a range of assessments, such as visual acuity, eye pressure measurement, and an examination of the front and back of your eyes. The optometrist will also discuss any specific concerns or symptoms you may have and provide professional advice on eyecare and potential management options. After the examination, if needed, the optometrist can help you select eyewear from a range of stylish and affordable frames. Our aim is to provide a convenient, thorough, and personalised eyecare experience tailored to your individual needs.

At Doorstep Vision, we prioritise the well-being of our clients by offering comprehensive aftercare following an at-home eye test. Our aftercare services include providing personalized advice on eye health and maintaining optimal vision, assisting with the selection and fitting of prescription eyewear or contact lenses, and offering follow-up appointments to monitor progress and address any concerns.
  • What happens before an at home eye test?
Before an at-home eye test with Doorstep Vision, our team will schedule an appointment at a time that suits you. We will then send a qualified optometrist to your doorstep, equipped with all the necessary tools and equipment to conduct a comprehensive eye examination. Our optometrist will spend time understanding your specific visual needs, medical history, and any concerns you may have about your eyesight.
  • If my vision is fine, do I need a regular eye test?
Yes, even if your vision seems fine, regular eye tests are essential for maintaining good eye health. Regular eye tests can detect early signs of eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration, which often have no noticeable symptoms in the early stages. Additionally, eye tests can also reveal underlying health issues such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
  • How long does an eye test take
Our comprehensive eye tests typically take around 30-45 minutes to complete. During this time, our experienced optometrists will conduct a thorough examination of your vision, including assessing your visual acuity, checking for any refractive errors, and examining the health of your eyes. We take the time to ensure that every aspect of your eye health and vision is carefully evaluated, and we prioritise providing personalised and attentive care to each of our patients.
  • How often should I get an eye test
At Doorstep Vision, we recommend that adults aged 18-60 who have no symptoms of vision problems should have an eye test at least every two years. If you are over 60, or if you have a family history of eye conditions, diabetes, high blood pressure, or certain medications, it is advisable to have an eye test more frequently, ideally every 12-18 months. Additionally, if you experience any sudden changes in your vision, such as blurriness, double vision, or flashes of light, we strongly advise you to schedule an eye test as soon as possible.
  • What type of eye tests are carried out at home?
At Doorstep Vision, we offer a range of comprehensive eye tests that can be carried out in the comfort of your own home. Our services include vision testing, refraction testing for eyeglass prescriptions, intraocular pressure measurement for glaucoma screening, assessment of eye muscle function, and examination of the external and internal structures of the eye. Our qualified optometrists use portable, state-of-the-art equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results, tailored to your individual needs.
